I’ve got 20 minutes left in the computer room, but I wanted to put this on here. Thinking about the short-term and short-term goals seems to be a much more popular lens than focusing on the long-term, but I think that’s exactly what brought me to rock bottom. The short term is going to suck, and goals that I can achieve in the very short-term are not that impressive. Maybe it’s from having grown up in a cult, but I ask the question “to what end?” intuitively. Believing that big things could be possible, that I could be in a happy place in ten or twenty years and leave a positive mark on the world long after my death motivates me to brush my teeth in a way that small, short-term rewards do not.
